Specific Benefits Of Foamed Wool Pads

Foamed Wool is a patented process that places a bottom cushion of microscopic polyfoam particles under a top layer of lambswool fibres.

Lake Country Mfg. developed these pads for high production, OEM/Industrial users to remove P1500 and finer scratches in one step while retaining a high gloss finish.

Close-up detail of a Foamed Wool pad notice that the Hook & Loop backing extends to the edge of the pad. This means the operator must be careful when working around mirrors, wings and trim to prevent accidently  marring the paint.

Benefits Of Foamed Wool Pads

  • More aggressive than Orange and Yellow foam CCS pads. Foamed wool cuts like natural sheepskin yet finishes like a foam polishing pad (dark color paints may require some polishing).
  • The foamed fibres resist caking and matting. Compounds and polishes rest on the foam layer allowing the operator to work the pad longer before it dries out.
  • The pads are woven using a lambswool yarn to a uniform and consistent density without any "hot spots". Natural sheepskin pads, because they are natural hides, have areas where the fibres are more densely packed. These "hot spot" areas cut more aggressively than the rest of the pad which can increase compounding haze.
  • Minimal linting. The foaming process locks in the lambswool fibres significantly reducing linting.

Foamed Wool pads are designed for circular machine polishers and true, dual action machines like the Flex XC3401 VRG.

Foamed Wool pads are not recommended for machines that "jiggle" like Random Orbital sanders.

User Tips

  • If using a circular machine polisher, keep the speed between 900 and 1200 RPM. Always start at 900 RPM. If using the Flex XC3401 VRG, keep the speed dial between 2 and 3
  • Mist fresh pads once with a Foam Pad Lubricant to prevent dry-pad burn.
  • When reusing a washed pad. lightly brush with a stainless steel brush or grab pad by the edge and slap against the palm of your hand to fluff the pad fibres.

Pads can be washed using a Lake Country Pad Washer or by hand with Snappy Clean Pad Cleaner. Wrap the pad in a cotton towel and wring out excess water. Allow pad to air dry. Do not machine wash or dry.
